Have your own kinda style, not like the rest

This one goes out to Jamie Jones who won big last night at the Ibizia DJ awards at Pacha for both Best Deep house dj and tied for track of the season with his remicks of the Azari and III song Hungry for the Power. The photo above really encapsulates the overall theme of Jones and many of his endevours. In the background, but very noticeable! Adding to the hilarity of the photo, you will notice Paris Hilton standing there taking credit for making horrid tunes and touting the fact that all you need to reach the dance music masses is DOUGH and some hot looks. Jamie's success in moving dark, sexy, housey, techno-y, disco to the top of the underground and the tip of the mainstream is second to NONE. Jamie has been an underground pace setter for quite a while, and as of late, unstoppable across the pond and within the US dance scenes. Big ups to Jamie and crew who have taken music I love and given it a shot at being more widely accepted. This is happening and cannot be stopped. At a time when techno was without wind and stuck in the doldrums, Jones stepped up and let people know, 'i like vocals and that is great!'. This in turn made the people dance, and remember that partying with techno was supposed to be fun. In walks disco and house, they are like 'yea buddy! this is what it used to be like!!!!' and there you have modern quality underground dance music the way it should be. For too long the only music that could crossover and still had some underground flavor was poorly produced blog house. Which, really was, piss poor indie dance. Currently, electronic dance music has crossed over to every piece of pop as far as the eye can see. Don't even get me started on dubstep, this is another post altogether as it relates to young edm fans being polluted with god awful sounds. At the end of the day though, all of the trash that attracts people to EDM should be praised as it is a gateway into building the ears to maturity and truly discerning electronic music fans. Without bad you cannot know what is good . With much hard work from Jones and a handful of other hustling jocks/producers, we have seen a sound that reflects the past and future all at once and seems to have momentum that will carry way further than anyone could have imagined. Here's to solid, refined yet unhinged, underground dance music that will make a difference in the musical education of a population of people across the world who are just learning what good dance music really can be. Congrats Jamie!!!!
